Lesson Outline
Santino was greeted by therapist as he finished with previous teacher. He assisted with choosing which new puree he would like to work with/explore in today's session. He was quite verbal upon initiation of session. He did not choose a puree therefore SLP chose pudding and a new yogurt (strawberry flavored). Santino appeared tired and was sneezing, coughing and had a runny nose throughout session. Santino assisted in opening the yogurt with help, placing the spoon without difficulty. When offered a bite, he refused and began to whine. With hand over hand assist, he minimally opened and reached in. The yogurt tapped to his lips and he immediately licked it off. We began to paint with paint dots as he was intermittently agitated. When offered an additional bite, Santino turned away and refused. He became upset and began to cry, SLP provided a hug and deep embracing squeezes to assist with regulation, which was quickly successful. He did drink water 4x/6 opportunities from a water bottle however sips were small. When SLP began to play/paint with yogurt on a plate, he became upset and crawled on SLP's lap. Yogurt task was discontinued in efforts to keep feeding therapy positive. Unfortunately, Santino appeared tired and with a cold so it is expected that food (non-preferred), is a challenge. With cheerios, he allowed SLP to tap to hand, arm, face and lips 10x before clean up. He walked the puree back to the fridge and was greeted by Ms. Ingrid. Demands were decreased today. I hope he is feeling better! Have a nice week.
