Math – Kelcy began to learn about the new topics in Lesson 14 which involves finding the area of a plane figure. He practiced finding the perimeter and area of squares and rectangles.
Science – We checked our science experiment to determine a plant’s ability to absorb water. After the flowers sat in the water overnight we observed a color change to the petals of its flowers. This proved that the water that is absorbed at the roots travels from the stem out to the leaves and flowers. We left some of the flowers to dry out overnight in order for them to absorb more color today. Then Kelcy began a project to learn about Earth’s atmosphere. He discovered the different gases that make up air. These gases are held close to Earth’s surface by gravity forming a type of blanket around the planet.
