Lesson Outline
Math and Science – Kelcy played a board game to help him learn the Cartesian coordinate system.
Each board in the physical game has two grids: the lower (horizontal) section for the player's ships and the upper part (vertical during play) for recording the player's guesses. The ships have coordinates defined in positions of the perpendicular projections of the point onto two axes. Each coordinate is an ordered pair. He is already well-versed at finding the ordered pairs for each coordinate in the game. Then Kelcy learned the mechanics of physics and the study of motion behind throwing a football in a perfect spiral. He learned that it travels in a curved or parabolic path which is influenced by the force of gravity. The more spiral on the football the less drag. He quickly learned to throw a perfect spiral.
