Lesson Outline
Jack and I began our session with a read aloud, "Formula One Race Cars On the Move". Jack enjoyed listening to this story. He wanted to continue reading books about race cars. I love that Jack has found a topic that he enjoys reading. Jack then completed a comprehension quiz, covering questions on parts of the race car. He received a 100%. I then assisted Jack in illustrating a picture of the race car. We took turns labeling the parts of the race car. Jack wrote sentences in his journal, describing the parts of the 'Formula One' race car. We ended our session with science, completing a design challenge - creating a glowing, bouncy egg. We used a raw egg, vinegar, liquid from a highlighter, and a clear cup. We will let our egg sit in the vinegar and highlighter liquid for 24 hours. We will check our experiment to see if it worked on Thursday when the boys return. Jack filled out a lab sheet, dictating (as I wrote) and illustrating his prediction of what will happen to the egg. Jack's prediction is that the egg shell will fall off.
