Session Date
Lesson Topic
Read aloud, writing activity, science - 'bouncy egg', design challenge
Lesson Outline
Jack and I began our session with a second attempt at our 'bouncy egg' experiment. We added more vinegar this time than our first attempt - per Jack's request during our last session when discussing what can be done differently with our experiment. Jack added red food coloring to his egg and vinegar mixture. We hope it works! We then listened to a read aloud, "Sylvester and the Magic Pebble" by Reid Scott. Jack then completed a writing activity -practicing recalling from the story, 'what is one thing Sylvester wished for?' Jack wrote a sentence and illustrated a picture, explaining Sylvester wishing to be a rock. We ended our session with science, intertwining math, completing a design challenge, building 3-D shapes with marshmallows and toothpicks. After building the shape, Jack identified how many faces, edges, and vertices each shape had.
