Session Date
Lesson Topic
Science - 'bouncy egg' experiment, soda bottle planting, read aloud & writing activity
Lesson Outline
Jack and I began our session with our 'bouncy egg' experiment for our second attempt. IT WORKED! Jack identified and shared what we did differently when completing our second attempt. The highest bounce was dropping the egg from 15 inches. Jack illustrated a picture of the egg bouncing on his lab sheet. We then began our 'soda bottle greenhouse' activity. Jack chose to plant all three seeds - sunflower, pea, and lettuce seeds in his soda bottle. He added the soil, then the seeds, and lastly, the water. Jack then illustrated in his 'plant journal' his seeds planted and wrote the sentence, 'I planted my seeds today'. He will continue with his plant journal and his plant growing at home. We ended our session with discussing our previous read aloud, "Sylvester and the Magic Pebble". Jack completed a writing activity answering the question, "if you found a magic pebble, what would you wish for?" Jack wished for a Ferrari.
