We began with the lateral ("Roof") areas of pyramids, using the Elmo and a small model pyramid. We examined the formula for the lateral area, worked a few problems and then went on to the total surface are (Lateral Area plus area of base). We used a ruler to measure our "model" pyramid, computed both areas and then worrked several practice problems.
