Lucas and I began our session with a read-aloud titled "When I Was Young in the Mountains." In this memoir, the author writes about her memories of spending time at her grandmother's house in the mountains. Lucas enjoyed pointing out the things that were different in that long-ago time. Next, we practiced reading his sight words, reviewed vowel sounds and created words for the -an, -at, and -am families. Finally, he read two controlled vocabulary books with sight words and word family words. Great job, as usual.
