For today's lesson, Noelle and I continued to work with fractions. After a quick refresher on finding common denominators, simplifying, and interchanging improper fractions and mixed numbers, we expanded on our recent lessons to include adding mixed numbers. Noelle added the whole numbers and the fractions separately. Then, she made equivalent fractions by finding common denominators, added the fractions, changed improper fractions to mixed numbers, added the mixed number to the whole number, and lastly simplified. Noelle was assigned similar problems for her to complete at home.
