Sam has some experience with IXL, but has never completed the IXL Diagnostic. He continues to work at the diagnostic, narrowing down his skills, and he is pleased with his results as am I. We discovered and focused on his two recommended skills:ordering topics from broadest to narrowest, which we are reinforcing in his essay on plastic as well, and the grammar component of utilizing correct and appropriate shifts in pronoun number and persons, and possessives which we also focused on in a writing exercise chat. Sam is working on some sixth and seventh grade level grammar and mechanics, but his reading level is looking to be between 10th and 11th grade. As Sam completes his diagnostic, the score bands/ranges narrow down to pinpoint grade level. I assigned him practice in the skills recommended.
