Lesson Outline
ELA: This morning we introduced the list 26 spelling words. These words use the prefix ad- and include words such as adventure, adjective, and adjust. Her new vocabulary words are a mix of math and science terms from her current lessons, including such words as transversal, isobar, and monsoon. We then tackled her grammar lesson 8 from her textbook. We read about how some words can be used as adverbs or prepositions. The lesson covered identifying the prepositional phrase as the key to making this determination. Macy then practiced this skill with 12 sentences in which she identified if the target word was an adverb or preposition and then wrote the prepositional phrase, if applicable. Literature was our final step for language arts. We reviewed her summary of chapter 5 and made some corrections for spelling and grammar. We then read chapter 6. We added information to her character organizer. Latin: We were introduced to chapter 14 with a video. This lesson covers 1st declension with nouns (these words have an invariable stem and are generally of feminine gender). Macy practiced some recitation with the video and worked through the video along with her textbook for more detailed instruction. The first declension will always follow this case order: nominative, genitive, dative, accusative, ablative. He provided this acronym “NGDAA – Never Gulp Down an Ant “to help students memorize the order.
