Maya listened to Level K: Kites. Prior to reading, we completed the K and W portion of a KWL (know, want to know, learned from reading) chart. She listened to the reading and completed the L portion. As an extension, she created a kite, and wrote a paragraph on the back containing facts about the kite, beginning with the main idea.
