Maya alternated reading The Story of the Statue of Liberty. We stopped and analyzed many events. Analytical questions are what seem to be the most challenging. "Why do you think they created a small model of the statue first?" etc. Following reading, she took what she learned yesterday and combined it with what she learned today, to choose what facts she wanted to include in a paragraph about The Statue of Liberty. She used a paragraph frame to keep her writing focused and held tightly to the topic of what she "learned."
