Maya sorted her matches from the rhyming game we played Wednesday into long and short vowel categories.Then she identified the long a words and I helped her determine the long a patterns (ai,ay, a_e). I gave her a word ladder for each spelling pattern. She did very well (and seemed to enjoy it too!). She asked if we could work on long e next. Then Maya read aloud a J story from RaZ Kids and took the comprehension quiz. During the reading we listened for long a words. After that we went to complete the next page in her cursive book, but we could not find it, so we practiced writing sentences in cursive on the white board. Maya wrote an entire sentence with short a words, and I wrote an entire sentence with long a words.
