Lesson Outline
Maya was excited to start our day together. She wanted to work on our noun project. We finished creating the people and will begin labeling the types of nouns on Monday. Maya did not want to read today, but once she got started she read Mike's Good Bad Day successfully. Maya was fluent and expressive. I was proud of her because she read the entire book independently without asking to take turns or stop once. Fantastic stamina! However, I did notice she was not reading for meaning. She was using visual clues to solve unknown words without checking to see if they made sense. Nonetheless, she demonstrated comprehension of the text in discussion throughout and after the story.

I am working at Maya's pace in our sessions. I have not been able to cover as much as I would like in our sessions, but I feel it is important for Maya to enjoy our time together and feel rushed. She forgot her backpack today, so I did not have her cursive book to work with her in.
