Lesson Outline
Maya and I had a great session today. She was anxious to show me what a hard worker she is:) She read an entire chapter of Magic Treehouse aloud independently. We discussed the story and made connections through out the story. Then we discussed verbs. Maya told me that she did not know what verbs are. To get her interested and active I introduced the concept of verbs as actions, movements or things nouns do in a game of charades. She really enjoyed this. Next, Maya had the idea of choosing an animal (common noun) and then listing as many verbs as we could think of for that animal while acting them out. Maya chose to be a cat, so I listed verbs like meowing, hissing, scratching, stretching and she acted out the corresponding action. I was a dog, so I panted, ate, barked, ect. We had a fun time:) Maya worked in the letter e in her cursive book, but wasn't able to finish the whole page before snack.
