Lesson Topic
Reading Fluency and /ou/
Lesson Outline
Patrick reread Level D "Polly Gets Out". He was very fluent. After reading the story I chose 10 words for Patrick to sort into nouns or verbs. He sorted 9/10 words correctly:) Then we reviewed the /ou/ sound and read sentences to encourage him to decode words with the /ou/ sound. He is still working on applying the sound to unfamiliar words. We call these words "ouch" words to help him remember that ou make the /ou/ sound. We ended with our Flat Stanley read aloud. Patrick made excellent predictions about the chapter that he confirmed:)
