In this session we began discussiing the final project for Sophie so that she can receive full credit for the Computer class. We're integrating the range of academic computing skills she would need to demonstrate and we're combining the skills with other subject material - in this case, Spanish. Her project is to create a short video using original images and audio. We're simplifying the content by sticking with material she needs to cover for another class. The content she selected was the vocab for her Spanish class. Although the video will be mostly still images and slide transitions, it counts as video because she will need to arrange the images and transition the audio from frame to frame. My take-away from this session with Sophie is that she really prefers structure and does not like to be responsible for her own topics of learning. She's happy to do the work when she sees some relevance to it and when directed. I didn't expect this of an oldest sibling of 5, as I expected her to be more of a leader. Either way, she seems to respond well to structure and purposeful activities.
