Lesson Comments
Brad had a great session today. His physical behavior was increased from yesterday, but he was responsive to cues to 'hug himself', 'use quiet hands', etc. He took turns reading during our opening story with minimal prompts. The routine of always starting with a story seems an effective approach as it helps him anticipate what is expected of him. We looked at familiar pictures of people feeling emotions. We made a 4-fold paper (Brad did a great job listening/watching and following directions to make his match mine.) It took a lot of prompting, but Brad was able to provide several examples of things that made him feel both happy and sad. He was able to represent those things by drawing a picture and then writing a sentence below the picture. As a reward, he got select a picture to color from today's session. He didn't ask once if it was time to go yet (yesterday he asked about 8 times toward the end of the session). He was engaged and participative.
