Session Date
Lesson Topic
Hand/Foot linear coordination; Two bar breaks; 8th note hi hat rhythms.
Lesson Outline
Began by playing through the exercises in the Two Bar Breaks section, then moved into using the hi hat foot pedal to open and close the cymbals to get a swish sound while playing normal 8th note ride patterns. We started using a sheet of hand/foot coordination exercises that I wrote to help me with my control of each limb and keeping the note subdivisions even and clean.
Assignment
Practice the last Two Bar Breaks exercise, the 8th note hi hat rhythm exercises, and the first 3 coordination exercises on the hand written sheet.

Lesson Comments
Devin moved through the Two Bar Breaks section very quickly and is getting the hang of the hi hat rhythms. He played the first few very well. The hand/foot coordination exercises are challenging for him, but with practice, it will help him with his limb independence and control.
