Lesson Topic
The Cold War
Lesson Outline
Today Emma and I discussed the formation of the Cold War. We reviewed a timeline from 1945 to 1991, and looked at the key foreign and domestic issues that affected the United States after WWII. She learned about how relationships between nations broke down after WWII, how the U.S. sought to limit the spread of communism, about new international organizations, and the events of 1949. We linked the content and concepts to current events by discussing the imprisonment of Chinese journalists, censorship in communist countries, and Edward Snowden and the U.S. surveillance systems. Additionally, we explored the first years of Stalin's regime.
