After discussing Ch. 3 of Oscar Wao, Ashley and I went into a discussion of the History of the Caribbean, focusing on the ways in which the historical condition of the region affects our reading of the novel. We also watched a brief video about Trujillo, the Dominican Dictator whose life plays a tremendous role in our class book.
