Graphing alkanes carbon number vs boiling points
Lesson Outline
We used the isomers of butane, pentane, and octane to show that branching on an alkane chain reduces the boiling point. We studied the graph and found that it was not linear, but predictable. We then analyzed an advertisement for a hybrid car which made claims about reducing the carbon footprint.
