Vertebrates: Birds -
Aubrey created a page in her notebook for the animal class Aves or Birds, listing the main characteristics, including strategies for keeping warm, reproduction, body covering, and the common names. We watched the BBC production LIFE, episode 5: Birds, which showed the strategies used to survive adapted and adopted by Longmire, bower birds, white pelicans, chin-strap penguins, grebe, tropicbird, the spatula-tail hummingbird and other fascinating birds. After the show we discussed the amazing lengths species will go to find a ‘niche’, and how the life force instructs their determination and will. We talked about the few examples we had seen and which she found most interesting.
