Session Date
Lesson Topic
Grammar - 5 tenses; journal; read a detective short story
Lesson Outline
40 minutes - review of present, past, imperfect, future and conditional tenses. The usage and formation of each tense was explained and demonstrated with “ar, er and ir” verbs. Worksheets and textbook were used for this lesson. Chase has a copy of all notes used to explain the lesson.
30 minutes - journal - we went outside to gather a “weather report” and report on activities going on at Batt school. The next section of the journal is Chase describing her feelings about going to college in 2 days for “orientation”. She stated she has not yet packed and what items she will be packing. Chase creates all her own original sentences, in Spanish. She then reads them to me and I point out grammar and vocabulary. She enjoys this part of the lesson and does very well on it.
5 minute break
45 We read a short detective story. Chase translated and I assisted with new vocabulary and identified various grammar points. There were no written questions at the end of this short story. It was a bit complicated and we worked together to sort out the theme and characters.
