Plant Dissection -
Kelly came prepared to conduct a dissection of a flower. We toured the school grounds for a suitable flower to dissect, and settled on a ginger flower. We used dissection tools to isolate the male and female portions of the flower. We used the binocular microscope to examine pollen, and ovum. I instructed Kelly to slice a section of the ovary, to view with the high-powered microscope. We examined prepared slides for comparison, and Kelly drew her observations in the lab report. She then labeled, and classified, images of flowers before answering questions about the anatomy of a plant.
