Dillon stayed focused and worked hard today. We began with fluency practice. He is reading at a rate between 75-85 words per minute, which is right on grade level. His fluency, however, is impacted at times by tracking issues. He either skips a whole line of text or a group of words. I have recommended that he use his finger, the eraser end of a pencil or a straight edge to track print while he is practicing oral reading for fluency. Next, he read a short passage titled, "An Earful". He practiced test taking strategies while answering the comprehension questions. He did a great job identifying evidence from the text to back up his answers.
