Session Date
Lesson Topic
Journal; grammar lesson - review of irregular verbs; story - La guitarra misteriosa
Lesson Outline
***Alexa, the student I have before Chase, was absent today and Chase arrived early - at 11:55. Her lesson normally doesn’t start until 12:30, but since she needs the time, I worked with her beginning at 12:00 to 12:30.
30 minutes - pre-class: I gave Chase a list of regular verbs. She tested herself on the meaning of the verbs and made a word bank of unfamiliar words. Then we reviewed together - possessive adjectives: 3 forms of my, your, his/her, etc.
Normal class time:
25 minutes - Journal. Chase’s journal entry was an enjoyable account of her prom. Her sentence structure was good and she needed only minimal assistance with the vocabulary
30 minutes - grammar - we reviewed the irregular verbs that are in the story she is reading: La Guitarra Misteriosa. Using the work I had prepared, she read the irregular conjugations of each verb and gave a translation.
5 minute break
60 minutes - La Guitarra Misteriosa - Chase read chapters 9 & 10 in Spanish. She identified grammar items, new vocabulary and wrote out the translation to a few sentences that had complicated grammar constructions. She answered the 5 open-ended questions herself and then read them to me. I made only a few corrections to her work.
