Lesson Topic
Interference Patterns in Light
Lesson Outline
I led Aubee through several topics dealing with constructive and destructive interference in light phenomena. We discussed thin film interference which produces the multi-colored patterns seen on oil sheens on water. I also described the way interference patterns arise from out of phase waves in water, sound, and light. I showed Aubee several optical effects including the parallax effect, polarized lenses, and thin film interference slides. I also described how holograms differ from normal photographs.
