Lesson Topic
Substep 3.4: How to Read, Write and Mark 3 & 4 Syllable Words
Lesson Outline
I'll continue to work with 3 & 4 syllable words in all the different sections of the lesson, but will pick words that might be familiar to Sophia in the Charting and Sentence Reading sections of this lesson. Since Sophia has such a strong grasp of the letter sounds that have been taught, I want to assess her ability to read words in the VCE pattern. Since she is just going into 3rd grade, being able to read words in the VCE patterns would be beneficial to her.

Lesson Comments
Sophia has a very good grasp of all the sounds that have been presented and quickly associates the letters with their sounds, which makes spelling words easy for her. I've noticed that she is very quick with the finger tapping and sometimes misses steps in the process. I've been slowly her down so that she goes through the entire process and does it correctly. I had Sophia read a mix of real and nonsense words in the VCE pattern and saw that she needed additional exposure to these types of words. I'll include more in tomorrow's lesson.
