Lesson Topic
Substep 3.4: Reading, Spelling and Marking Multi-syllable Words
Lesson Outline
The bulk of the lesson will focus on reading 3 & 4 syllable words fluently. Sophia's oral reading of 3 & 4 syllables words is improving, but she isn't fluent. I will also introduce the VCE pattern during this lesson. Sophia will read words that I make with the letter tiles, read a list of words containing both long and short vowel words, and then use the Ipad app, Long Vowels.

Lesson Comments
Sophia was very talkative on Friday. This was the first time that I got more than a few words for an answer. Hopefully, this means she's feeling more comfortable with me. I introduced the VCE pattern for long vowel words. I had Sophia read some long vowel words that I made with the letter tiles and then switched between short and long vowel words by taking away the letter, e. She did OK but the reading wasn't automatic. I'll continue to have her read a list of words that contain both long and short vowel words. I also continue with the ipad app, Long Vowels, which adds a fun and variety to the exercise.
