Lesson Outline
The focus of this lesson will be to increase fluency. In all parts of this lesson, multi-syllable nonsense words with a closed and a VCE syllable will be used. Sophia will be asked to read, spell and mark nonsense words. The goal will be for Sophia to read 14 out of 15 words correctly.

Sophia was not energetic at all today. She sat slumped in her chair. Yesterday, Sophia was chatty. Today, she didn't want to talk. I decided to start the day off with the Comprehension Short Story to get it out of the way. She read the story but did not answer the questions very well. Her initial answer to a question was "I don't know". I then reworded the question and directed Sophia to reread a certain section of the story in order to get her to answer a question. She did respond but with a one word answer. I shortened the time for this section and went onto the other parts of the lesson. During the rest of the lesson, Sophia did OK. We did take a short water break in order to give Sophia a chance to move around. I stayed with Sophia until Mrs. Evans came to school. She had a flat tire. During the extra time, I had Sophia work on the app, Mathtopia, which works on increasing number fact recognition.
