This morning, Jason and I reviewed yesterday's lesson on adding tens and ones on an open number line. Jason completed problems on the whiteboard, placing the larger 2-digit number on the number line and adding the smaller 2-digit number by drawing large jumps for each 10 and little hops for each 1 to find the sums. Then, Jason worked on an adding and subtracting within 20 maze with odd sums and differences creating the path to the finish line.
Jason answered questions from the daily review on counting coins, 2-digit addition and subtraction, and a subtraction word problem. He also quickly completed 30 basic addition facts with 0 to 18 sums.
Our lesson continued using strategies to add within 100. Today, we focused on breaking apart 2-digit numbers into tens and ones and adding numbers with hops or jumps on an open number line.
Jason participated in imaginary play. We started working on a new mask. We also placed an order for materials we need to continue creating different masks for the different characters we can pretend to be.
Jason completed his interactive calendar. He read and discussed his vocabulary words. He watered his plants and made notations in his seed logbooks. He completed several activities pertaining to the life cycle of corn. He studied his mini pumpkin and used his 5 senses to describe his mini pumpkin. He began making a pumpkin flip booklet.
Jason was presented the Spanish alphabet with a song today. The song does a fantastic job of presenting the letters and some additional sounds such as the -ch and -ll. It presents the letter and the sounds of the letters (multiple sounds for the letters that make multiple sounds like "c"), and presents fun images that are great for young learners vocabularies.
Jason and I reviewed the people words (pronouns) of Spanish. We wrote several sentences using the word he. Jason drew pictures of people (mostly Carter) doing the actions.
Jason and I read the story "The Two Goats and the Bridge" on pages 17-19 in the textbook He observed that the goats look angry. We discussed the problem and the solution the goats had in the story. We discussed how they decided to cooperate and compromise. We read the text "Talk It Out" on page 20 in the textbook. We read and discussed 3-step chart "How to Solve Problems" on page 21. He completed part of the Problem/Solution chart on page 19 in the workbook.
Jason and I continue to play baseball together.
Today we learned some of the positions from catcher to pitcher and batter.
We then took turns hitting and pitching to each other.
Go over the words on the wall chart for ending blends. Do a worksheet of word ladders, showing Jason how they work to get from the beginning to the last word. Practice with handwriting with familiar words and sentences.

Lesson Comments
Jason was able to complete everything but was extremely drowsy and occasionally started to nod off. We finished with about 10 minutes left and he barely made it through to the end awake.
Jason and I continue to play baseball together.
We are working on the fundamentals of hitting the ball and running the bases.
Jason is learning the game very fast.
Jason completed his interactive calendar. He changed the calendar from September to October noting that October had one more day than September. He checked on his squash plants and transplanted them to a larger pot. He watered his bean and corn plants. He made notations into his logbooks about the progress his plants are making.
