Mother's Day
Lesson Outline
We started by reading a book about Mother’s Day. We discussed why mothers are so important. Then, we dove right into our Mother’s Day craft. I showed her the end-product so she would know what our goal was. We are working on dexterity, so I had her put her left hand flat on the paper. Next, I outlined her hand with the green crayon. When she picked her hand, she saw that we had created the stems and leaves of the flowers. Then, she drew the yellow centers of the flowers on the end of each finger/stem. After that, I asked her to pick five of her favorite colors so she could draw the petals of each flower. Alexandra did a great job and asked if she could make another one for her nanny. So, we did it again. She is such a sweet and happy girl.

Coloring
Lesson Outline
Alexandra selected a butterfly coloring sheet for today’s activity. Initially, she said it was for her dad and began adding many of the colors he liked, but she changed her mind and chose to make it for her mom instead. I suggested we add a nice Mother’s Day message and offered to help her write it but Alexandra preferred to do it herself and made it "funny" by writing a sequence of random letters.

We looked at their flag. She chose to fly there at first and then switched to driving. We spoke about how long each of those would take and looked at the route that she would take.

We learned that the Hadrosaurus used to live in present day Honduras.

She chose to eat Tacos on our trip. I had plantain canoes.

We looked at one of the traditional dances that is done in Honduras.

Lesson Outline
This morning, Alexandra worked on number bonds to 5. She was given a number less than 5, and determined the number needed to make 5 when added together. Alexandra used the fingers on one hand to help model the problems and find the missing parts. Finally, we listened to the Count to 100 dance song, and she used her number line to count by 10s.
