We looked at some pictures on a Florida Social Studies Weekly paper that was prepared to help us lay foundations for the study of social studies. We discussed the importance of historical people, the collection of historical items in museums, and the development of the computer from its early days.

Today, we looked into the history of Halloween and how it is believed to have begun in Ireland more than 2,000 years ago as a time of the year known as Samhain. The Celtic tribes would gather for food and games, marking the onset of winter, a time when the otherworld was believed to be present. We learned how, over the years, Halloween has incorporated many traditions from this original Celtic festival.
