This morning, we researched inventors of Teddy's choice, Orville and Wilbur Wright and Henry Ford. We began with the history of flight, beginning with primitive gliders and hot air balloons, before learning about the Wright brothers' journey to invent, build, and fly the world's first successful airplane. Then, we learned about Henry Ford and his ability to make automobiles affordable and more readily available for middle-class Americans.

Today, we continued to work on the president's lesson. Libby cut out the pages to make a Presidents Now and Then book. Then, she glued the pages onto construction paper that she had folded and stapled into book form. Finally, the descriptions of the presidents and their fun facts were glued into the pages while we discussed each president.

Remi watched and discussed a Brain Pop video on Map Skills. He completed several activities demonstrating his knowledge and understanding of the compass rose, a map legend, symbols on a map, and a map scale.
Remi worked on learning map skill to help him know how to read a map. We explored how to use a compass rose, and how to explain a map of Florida by deciphering the map symbols.
Today, we began with the book 'Grace for President' by Kelly DiPucchio. A story about a girl named Grace who decides to run for president in her school's mock election after learning that no woman has ever held the office. This book explains the electoral college in a simplified, easy way to understand. Next, we watched a quick video about the president's job and the criteria needed to run for president. Then, we read descriptions and fun facts about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln in preparation for us making a President's Then and Now book.
