Learning To Fly: Online program involving several variables/effects which could enhance the "flight" of an emperor penguin. Amount of money earned per flight increases with flight time and elevation. Acceleration, ramp height increase, air resistance, gliders etc. can be purchased with the flight earnings. Students' skills with Math and decision-making are involved with each flight trial.

Today's Computer lab lesson with Remy, Libby, and Teddy was a productive and enjoyable learning experience. Using the Learning To Fly online program, the students engaged their decision making and mathematics skills while enjoying the visual effects of an emperor penguin flying.
Learning to Fly: Cool Math Skills Game : This thought provoking online "game" requires the student to use various parameters such as angle. ramp length., acceleration, ramp height, gliders, small rockets etc. to maximize a "penguin's flight" time and elevation. For each successful flight with the penguin, the student earns $$ which can be spent on flight boosting such as Gliders, acceleration, rocket fuel etc.

During today's computer lab session, Remington was shown instructions within a "Learning to Fly" CoolMath game which was thought provoking. Remi was challenged to think through several specific flight-enhancing options that were available to choose and then saw the results/effects of these specific choices.

During today's computer lab session with Remington, the internet was used to research the cause and effects of dangerous tornados. Short instructional videos of tornados and actual Youtube videos of F-5 tornados in Moore , Oklahoma were viewed to demonstrate the power of severe weather. Remi was particularly interested in this topicbecause at 4 years old he witnessed his mother's restaurant being heavily damaged by a tornado in Palm Beach county.
Introduction to Keyboarding, Cool Math Games: Operating "Lemonade Stand" involving budgeting and spending for lemonade stand materials. Student used simple mathematics, subtraction, and unit quantities to make decisions that would lead to higher lemonade cup sales based upon given specific weather conditions.
