Lesson Outline
Julia and I focused on reading comprehension strategies and timing practice. Timing is getting better. We have already exhausted the reading comprehension activities in the 2018 ACT book, so I will find supplementary practice tests for our future sessions. We will alternate back and forth from ACT and SAT so she is better prepared for both tests.

Julia's prefered method of preparation for the SAT is to work problems and try to find the answers. We finished one practice test together and continued into the second set of problems. She got a number of problems correct but got stuck on some easier ones. There was no assignment.

SAT Prep Reading Comprehension and English
Lesson Outline
Julia had just taken the ACT, and was scheduled for the SAT at her school the next week. We went over the differences in test taking strategies for the SAT, as they are different than the ACT. We practiced English and Reading Comprehension using the new SAT Study Book. Homework was to study, practice and rest.

Zach told me today that he would be taking the SAT in August instead of October. I will not be working with him between now and that date so I hope he continues with a different tutor.

Review of errors on SAT practice test

Zach was not at school today so we Skyped. I reviewed problems that he missed. His score on the practice test was only 5 out of 20 correct. He told me that he has changed his upcoming test date to October.

Zach is normally very talkative and would rather visit and talk about other subjects than math. He mentioned that his weakness in geometry is the one topic in math he needs to work on.

Converting between degrees and radians
Lesson Outline
Zach and I continued working on conversions between radian measures and degrees. I showed him some more examples where I multiplied by either pi/180 or 180/pi to convert the angles.

Zach is very comfortable with math and so most of the work I'm doing is a review of what he's done. He also likes to spend time talking off-topic, which I allow because I need him to feel comfortable with the lesson content.
