Bobby created a graphic organizer to organize ideas to write an analysis of one of the characters in the book "Rot and Ruin." He began writing a sloppy copy.
This afternoon Bobby and I broke the seal on our first robotic project using the Makeblock platform. We reviewed the instructions and took an inventory of the kit before beginning with the assembly of the chassis.
Today Bobby learns of 10 principles of landscape design. This was very interesting as it paralleled some of the things that Bobby had learned in Mr. Bill's Art class in previous years. Lastly, we got a great explanation of all the things that might go into a set of architectural plans. Great session.
This morning Marcos and I reviewed some of the accomplishments of Muslim scholars, artists and scientists. Muslim math scholars developed Algebra while Muslim physicians wrote an encyclopedia on diagnosing and treating disease. We reviewed the homework before moving forward. Homework is to read the next section and answer questions 1-5.
This morning Bobby and I continued to practice our work on solving equations with fractions and variables. We reviewed the homework on page 262 whereby Bobby performed particularly well. We completed problems 21-31. Homework is on page 262; #'s 22-36.
Bobby read "Rot and Ruin." After reading each page, I asked Bobby what he was thinking about. Did he agree with the actions of the characters in the story? Would he do the same? What does he know about the topic? I presented questions to help Bobby become engaged with the words. By becoming an active reader, Bobby's comprehension should increase. I introduced the spelling words. Bobby should review the spelling words for homework and read a chapters 4 and 5 in "Rot and Ruin." He should underline unfamiliar vocabulary words and note questions.
Bobby worked in the grammar text. He combined ideas using commas and conjunctions. Bobby completed a Daily Edit where he corrected mistakes in spelling, commas, and apostrophes.
Hour 1:
Bobby and I will look at how one goes from passion to success. We will look at some examples of people that have achieved that goal. I will inform Bobby of some of the pitfalls and how to avoid them.
Hour 2:
Bobby and I will work on the remaining services pages of his website. He will build a new services page using the skills that he has acquired from previous classes.
This afternoon Bobby and I ventured deeper into ancient China and our study of the Zhou Dynasty. We also began our study of Confucianism and the basic guidelines that he expressed in terms of morals and identifying your place in Chinese society. Homework is to read pages 187-192 and complete 1-3.
