Bobby created a graphic organizer to organize the important events from the book and movie, "Holes." He began writing a rough draft summarizing "Holes." Bobby completed a spelling quiz.
Bobby continued to work on his research paper. He completed his rough draft of the paper's body. He had a mini-lesson on introductory and concluding paragraphs using noredink.com. He chose to begin by using a startling fact as a hook.
How is the left elevation developed from the two floor plans? How are the windows projected both from the floor plan and the right elevation? Bobby, with assistance, completes his left elevation with ease and accuracy. He then watches a short video on how metal studs are installed for a partition wall. Great session.

We learned that cells want to maintain a surrounding that is not too hot, too cold, too wet, or too dry even though the environment is constantly changing. This maintenance of a constant internal state in a changing environment is called homeostasis. Homeostasis ensures that cells can carry out tasks such as obtaining energy, making new cells, exchanging materials, and eliminating waste. Organisms maintain homeostasis by the cells working together. When we are cold muscle cells will contract to generate heat by shivering. Some trees lose leaves in the winter to reduce the amount of water loss. The green pigment, chlorophyll used for photosynthesis breaks down changing the color of the leaves before they fall.
This morning Bobby and I continued our work with manipulating fractions. We have completed our review of how to add and subtract fractions and now we are focusing on multiplication. We spent the first half of the period working on the homework problems and practicing multiplication with negative fractions. Homework is to complete 231-237.
This morning we reviewed problems from the homework which involved adding fractions with different denominators and containing variables. We spent the remainder of class learning how to multiply fractions. Homework is to complete problems 12-19 on page 244.
This morning we tackled the problem of how to make protein. We learned how RNA is made by the DNA during the process of transcription and that the synthesis of protein is a three step process. We worked on our index cards and reviewed the three types of RNA. Homework is to complete questions 1-7, 9 and 10 found on page 177.
Bobby continued to view the movie "Holes." He took notes on similarities and differences between the movie and book. We practiced spelling words. Bobby should practice spelling words for homework.
