Bobby did warm ups and stretching. Afterwards, he did squats, glute kickbacks, leg curls, leg extensions, wall sits, fire hydrants, TRX abs and bicycles. Finally, he did a cool down and stretch.
Bobby took a 10-item assessment on correct punctuation of independent clauses joined by coordinating conjunctions and sentences introduced by subordinate clauses. (He did very well.) We discussed the 10 items, and then he began revising a paragraph with various grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.

Bobby read three chapters in 'Holes." While reading, he made personal connections with the characters. He made connections between the characters, their actions, and the world to better help him comprehend the material. He completed a "Daily Edit" where he found capitalization, spelling, and punctuation errors. He read two articles and answered the comprehension questions on readtheory.org.
Bobby should practice spelling words for the quiz on Thursday.

This afternoon we finished our review of the Sumerian culture and how the invention of the plow had a major impact on the development of the Sumerian society. Sumerians were also responsible for the building of the first pyramids. We reviewed the material on page 71 before moving on to the homework. Homework is to read pages 74-79 and complete #'s 1-3 and to read page 81 and complete #'s 1-8.
This afternoon Bobby and I moved forward with our praying mantis project by researching the mantis species that we will be working with. We discussed the predator/prey relationship and made connections with what we had learned regarding invasive species and their impact on the ecosystem. We also recognized the importance of creating a habitat that resembles the natural environment in which our praying mantis lives. Homework: Bobby will obtain a ten gallon aquarium. I have ordered the egg casings which will be shipped in the near future.
We will take a look at Bobby's latest drawing prompt entries and I will provide feedback.
I will review a first draft of Bobby's bio for his about page. I will see if Bobby was able to hit all points of the assignment:
- Give a brief description of yourself
- Give a brief description of what your website is all about and what makes it different from others.
- Give a description of the the components that make up your website.
I will will introduce Bobby to Will Packer, writer and movie producer. I will let him see some of his story so that he can have understanding of what a buy-in is and why potential clients should believe in him and his products/service. We will apply some of his approach to Bobby's about page draft.
Lastly, I will help Bobby compose a strong about page based on a series of questions and answers that he provides.
This afternoon we continued our exploration of invasive species by examining the snakehead fish from southeast Asia. Bobby will read an article entitled "Frankenfish" which describes the remarkable adaptive capabilities of this invasive predator. We will be taking notes and answering questions on a worksheet at the next class.
This afternoon we reviewed the section on the Sumerians and Gilgamesh. Bobby did not complete his homework from the weekend which forced us to spend class time working on the weekend homework. We completed the questions on pages 74-79 and page 81. Homework for tonight is to read pages 88-92 and complete #'s 1-4.
We are beginning our review of the first three sections in chapter four. We will be having a chapter quiz at some point later in the week once we have completed a thorough review of the entire chapter. Homework: complete the review for sections 1,2, and 3.
