This morning we practiced writing large numbers and decimals using scientific notation. We reviewed the homework on page 209 since Bobby had a number of concerns on how to solve several of the problems. We practiced some of the problems on page 209 which will also be on the homework for tonight. Homework is to read page 210-211 and complete #'s 1-11.

Bobby completed an assessment in grammar. The skills assessed were editing, spelling, forming plurals, and possessive nouns. He read a chapter in "Holes."

In an effort to pick up the pace somewhat in science class, we used our study skills time to reinforce note taking while viewing the video "Strange Days on Planet Earth" . We are also highlighting the concept of invasive species while learning how to identify key facts amongst the four case studies being presented in the video.

This morning we continued our review of pre Egyptian cultures by taking a closer look at the Sumerians. We reviewed the homework from the previous night before moving forward. We have also decided to start our own hands-on project consisting of building a Spartan shield. Homework is to read pages 62-71 and complete #'s 1-2.

This morning we examined the Mesopotamian, Egyptian and Kush civilizations beginning with the Mesopotamians. We examined the fertile crescent and its relationship to the growth and development of early Mesopotamian life. Homework is to read pages 56-59 and complete 1-3 and to read pages 60-61 and complete #'s 1-2.

We worked on Bobby's "up" and "dental" drafts of the Pharrell Williams three-paragraph essay, with emphasis upon transitions, eliminating run-ons, specific word choice/diction, and punctuation of quotations. Bobby listened well, worked hard and had a great day!

This morning we departed from our study of cellular mitosis and began our study of ecosystems and natural selection. We will continue to develop this idea by breeding Chinese preying mantis over the course of the next few weeks while looking at a variety of relationships from symbiosis to mutualism. We will also be looking at the video series "Strange Days on Planet Earth" that provides excellent case studies on how ecosystems can be negatively impacted by the arrival of invasive species.

Bobby continued work on his 3-paragraph essay about Williams' newest Hu sneakers. We focused upon using quotations as support, employing smooth transitional words and phrases, organization, and referral to subjects by last name in subsequent references.

After warm up and stretching, Bobby did single leg squats, DB leg curls, jumping jacks, single leg curls, extensions, box drill, glute bridges on the bench, single calf raises, flutter/scissor kicks and cool down and stretch.

Bobby will show me what he has completed for the last set of drawing prompts. I will give any feedback if needed.
I will introduce Bobby to a visual artist, painter, graphic designer, Paws. This artist has moved from traditional street art to commercial art and created a strong demand for his art.
I will introduce Bobby to the website, capstone project. We will create the legs (shoe customization, Sneak Geek product line, and consignment shop) of Bobby's website. Bobby will be shown a couple About pages from various websites so that he can create his own. I will give Bobby a set of guidelines to follow to create a proper About Page for his website.
