This morning we introduced the concept of scientific notation which allows us to rewrite unusually large or small numbers making it easier to work with them. A common application is in the field of astronomy, and microbiology for example. We worked on some practice problems and then began on the homework on page 206-209, #'s 13-21.

This morning Bobby began laying the groundwork for a Mantis propagation project. We began watching the video "Strange Days on Planet Earth" whereby Bobby practiced his note taking abilities while viewing a case study on invasive species. Homework: none

Bobby read two articles and completed the comprehension questions on Readtheory.com. Bobby should practice spelling words for the quiz tomorrow.
Bobby read a nonfiction article, Teen Brain Takes Biggest Hit," on Commonlit.com. He used inference and reasoning skills to complete comprehension questions. He typed a paragraph response which included a topic sentence and details. He cited evidence from the article to support his conclusion. Bobby read "Hard as Nails" in the literature book and verbally answered comprehension and discussion questions. We went over spelling words. Bobby should practice spelling words for a quiz on Thursday.
Bobby and I walked to the park for a short work out. We started off with 2 laps running around the park. We then did a 3 round circuit with 3 different exercises including pushups, dips and squats. Then we did 10 broad jumps. We finished with one lap cool down around the park and stretching. We talked about exercises he could do at home to improve his strength for basketball.
We will take some time to review and reflect on the videos that we watched in the last session. I will discuss with Bobby the differences between each and see if noticed the similarities in each story. I will discuss with Bobby the reason for showing him these videos and how they relate to the upcoming projects. Since Bobby has a true passion for business he will be shown and give real life examples of successful businesses such as Nike and Beats.
Bobby and I will go over his daily prompts completed from the previous week.
Bobby will be given time in class to complete his last designs for his line of custom shoes. This will give me time to watch his process and give proper guidance on ideas and technique.
