Sophie has a long list of fairly difficult vocabulary. She has a bit of trouble memorizing it. We worked on a few words at a time, just providing her with many different sentences with the same word in it.

Sophie was productive today. There was one point today that she said she did not like the exercise we were doing in class and she did not want to do it. I made her finish it with my help. We talked about what frustrated her and she could not find the mistakes in the paragraph I wrote on the board. After we went through agreement practice she was able to finish it.
Sophie will be able to solve several types of problems using systems of linear equations 1) combination problems, 2)distance=ratextime problems, 3) break-even point problems.

Sophie does not seem to be studying material at home. I understand she has had some more health issues over the past couple of weeks, but I still feel like she does not care about the class very much. she had not completed any of the packet on friday even though I had given it to her on tuesday. I am wondering whether I should give her time to study in class as opposed to just working through material, or what kind of encouragement/leadership I should give her to get working on this material.
Using the Menu made yesterday create a dialogue with 5 exchanges using 8 vocabulary words.
Looking at the picture say 10 sentences about what is happening in the picture.

Sophie did a fine job today. She was able to create and do the dialogue without problem. She did a great job on describing the picture. I wish she would be more enthusiastic about learning. She completes her work without problem she does exactly what I ask her to do and nothing more.

Sophie understands the concepts but is continuously making minor errors that cause her answers to be incorrect and cause her to be frustrated (when the answers are large fractions). Most of her errors are due to copying problems incorrectly from the book and rewriting them incorrectly as she solves the problem.
We talked about the vocab for the first 15 minutes. We prepared for a vocab test for next class with a practice vocab test. We discussed questions on The Kite Runner
