We started the Chapter on Impulse and Momentum. As we read through the chapter together, Vlad is learning how to take notes and identify key topics. We are creating a "physics formula sheet" as we progress. We did practice problems of the concepts that we covered so far (momentum and impulse, and the impulse momentum theorem). His homework is to complete the problems in Practice B on page 201 (he has a copy of this page).

My goal with Vlad this semester is to have him learn how to read a chapter, interpret what it says (with my help), pull out key topics, formulas and concepts, and then practice what he learned.
Projectile motion launched horizontally and at an angle
Lesson Outline
Laila brought some problems on projectile motion and other kinematic topics. We used kinematic formulas and trigonometry to resolve given velocity vectors into vertical and horizontal components to solve for time, maximum height, and downrange distance.

Laila was able to follow my thinking and procedures as I tackled various problems that she gave me.
Today we worked on separating a force vector into its components. Then, we talked about the sum of the forces acting on an object and separating it into its horizontal and vertical directions.
Since Sam and I have only worked together in Physics once, I am still reviewing some basic concepts necessary in Physics 1. Today, we talked about a scalar versus a vector, and finding the magnitude and direction of a vector given its components (this required some review of some basic trig topics).
