Cabo was shown example sentences on the board. He was asked to manipulate the sentences. He did struggle on the first couple problems, but had corrected his errors by the end of the exercises.
I then previewed Spanish 2 for Cabo. I introduced him to the key concepts of the year including: the idea of two ways of discussing the past.
