Finish Midterm
Lesson Outline
Kaitlin finished her midterm.

We reviewed all the answers that she gave to check for any missed questions or mistakes.

She submitted her exam. We listened to the first verse of a Spanish Christmas song, and then I started to grade the exam with her present. Helping her to understand why any of the questions that were marked incorrect were marked that way. I also pointed out trends. For example, Kaitlin did a great job of conjugating her Spanish verbs on this test.

Spanish Midterm
Lesson Outline
David continued his Midterm test.

We reviewed briefly by discussing his study guide. We discussed the practical uses for Spanish in David's life.

He then took his test. Toward the end of class, David and I spoke about some of his struggles. He said something to the effect of "I am not sticking with the problem long enough to figure it out."

We will work on this in the coming semester.

Midterm Continued
Lesson Outline
Kaitlin was given 5 minutes to study her study guide. I walked her through the last part of the study reminding her of some study tactics we have discussed, pointing out small but important differences (like tener v. tener que), and reminding her of our midterm taking procedures.

She then took her test. She did a better job today of making immediate and relevant notes for herself as soon as the test had started.

She seemed more confident and informed today than yesterday. She did mention feeling a little under the weather yesterday - so that may have been a contributing factor.

Exam: Midterm
Lesson Outline
Today, David took his exam.

We spoke about the format and procedures for the exam.

I reviewed with him briefly for the exam.

David completed and submitted his study guide. His timely submission qualified him to choose his own questions from the exam question bank.

He seems to have benefited greatly from being able to choose his own questions. He was able to focus on the questions that were most comfortable for him.

I recommend that David continue to study the material that we have covered in class.

Exam: Midterm
Lesson Outline
Kaitlin took her midterm exam today.

We spoke about the procedure for the exam and importance of academic integrity. I had her angle her computer down, put her cell phone on the bed behind her.

Kaitlin chose to not turn in her review packet on time. This meant that she must answer the teacher selected questions from her question bank instead of getting a chance to answer the questions that she elected from the bank.

Kaitlin overall did a fair job on her test. It did seem that she had a bit of a difficult start to the test. I encouraged her to keep trying and use any information that she could to her benefit.

I strenuously encourage Kaitlin to study more tonight and in the future for this class.

Midterm Review
Lesson Outline
We reviewed as much material as we were able to prior to David's Midterm Exam. He was absent yesterday which put a great deal of urgency into our lessons today.

We discussed the material that David needs to submit prior to taking his test. He has chosen to wait to do his assignment until the last night. So, it will be a considerable amount to accomplish.

We discussed the verbs: ser, tener and showed him a conjugation chart for each of them.

We discussed how adjectives and articles in Spanish must match other words in the sentence in gender and number.

David should study as much as he can between now and his Midterm tomorrow.

Midterm Review: Final Session
Lesson Outline
Today, Kaitlin and I finished her Midterm review. We spoke about -er, -ir verbs. We spoke about the verb ver and identified how it is irregular.

We discussed the work that she has pending and the importance of it. We discussed the phrases tener que, ir a, and acabar de.

I answered questions that she had regarding her midterm.

She demonstrated a strong understanding of much of the material. But, there are still items that she should study arduously before her exam.

Lesson Outline
Kaitlin and I refreshed her memory on a number of topics today.

She was reminded of the correct conjugation of regular -ar verbs and the irregular verbs Ir, Dar, and Estar. She did a wonderful job with this information.

We looked at a list of common regular verbs. I translated these verbs for her (any that she needed). I encourage her to study these verbs further.

We spoke of the personal a and contractions.

Midterm Review
Lesson Outline
David and I began his review for his Midterm exam.

We went way back to the material from the start of the year. David recited the alphabet (had it been a test his recitation today would have earned a high B or low A). We spoke of weather and season terms. This information did not come as quickly to his mind. We spoke of key terms and questions dealing with this material.

We also reviewed the verb Ser and its forms in the present.

David used this information to answer a series of questions.
