finished his painting of the koi fish. worked on his multi-medium art piece. will begin a new painting on wednesday.

We finished the book today and had a great discussion about the overall message of the book. The old man sees it as a failure, but in the end he actually wins because he never gave up. We then applied that idea to the journey of the hero and the other stories we read this year.

Rowan didn't do any reading while visiting the school, but he was very focused today and we got a lot of reading done. Rowan is very interested in the overcoming obstacles and determination theme of the story. He's done a great job with the reading, definitely the best he's done so far.

Today Rowan was in a horrible mood. He was angry that he did not know where his gameboy was and could not focus. He did not want to do the quiz but I pushed him to work on it. He really was not able to focus and did not complete the quiz. Near the end of the class, he decided he should have the last 5 minutes of class because he was angry, which I have no problem with but I don't think it is right for him to brush off a quiz because he doesn't want to do it, and then sit on the computer. So, I let him have his 5 minutes, but not on the computer. My thoughts behind that was if he could not work on his quiz because of anger with losing his gameboy then he should not be able to sit on his computer either, however, if he needed the time to relax, that was fine I gave him that. He may have been upset with me in the end, but Rowan should know that he needs to show respect and he can't just blow off a quiz because he is upset about his gameboy. Let me know if this is correct or not.

Rowan was in a bad mood today. I am not sure what the problem is but he says things like "Let's just get this over with."

Rowan is interested in the Mesozoic. Dinosaurs are coming up next.

Lunch was late today so we had less time for our lesson. The pronunciation of the Hebrew words was done with a British accent of Michael Rosen today!

We used actions to help remember vocabulary rather than English to Hebrew and Hebrew to English words

Rowan was very philosophical about "keeping" promises
