Calendar - Dr. Seuss' birthday. Read Dr. Seuss books and made up our own silly rhymes. Added days to 100 chart to make Dr. Seuss' age. Looked at green eggs - do you think they will taste different -everyone but Anna tasted them and all agreed that they were disgusting - put on blindfold and tasted plain and green eggs -nobody could taste the difference - why? Food coloring did not change taste but our eyes tricked us into thinking the eggs would be disgusting - discussed why we should try new foods even if our eyes tell us not to do it. Watched Cat in the Hat. Stephen/Oliver looked for words with c and o in the book. Anna/Stephen/Gwen made word lists with medial 'a' 'o' and 'i' from the book. Played circle game 'Cat int Hat'.

Calendar - Introduced March and March dress-up box. Discussed saying "March comes in like a lion, goes out like a lamb' its meaning if you live up north or down south. Made March Lion and March Lamb puppets and learned a short skit - everyone took a turn performing it. Stephen/Oliver - printing C/O on worksheet choosing correct initial sound. Gwendolyn - SRA Workbook pages reading words and sentences and matching them to illustrations. Anna/Quinn -sight word review worksheet with phrases, Quinn read sentence strips - Anna Leap Frog story.
Math - measuring and comparing two or more lengths. Walked in conservation area and looked for new plants, bugs, etc. Noticed that there was more clay -why? rain. Saw many caterpillars - so what will we see more of next month - butterflies and moths? Found a new wildflower. Sat quietly and closed eyes - what sense are we using the most now? hearing - made a list of what we heard.

Measuring using blocks, string, paper clips, cars etc. as standards. Listened to ‘Rapunzel’s Folly’ and did comprehension worksheet. Played Bingo with 20-39.

Discussed St.Patrick's Day - man named St. Patrick taught the Irish about his religion using a white 3-leaf clover, called a shamrock. It is considered lucky but a 4-leaf clover is unusual so many people think that it is even luckier. Discussed legends of leprechauns. Traced shamrocks. Anatomy - discussed parts of the body. Labeled a picture of a body. Played game 'Operation'. Measuring using an inch ruler.
