Jason was disappointed that he had to leave before we set up the ladybug environment. I told him that I would set up the environment, so the bugs could live. He will be able to give them water in the morning.
I mentioned to Mom that Jason was off today. He had a doctor's appointment.

Lesson Comments
Jason was excited about being in his new school. He seemed to have quite a bit of anxiety about the boys at his last school (he was "bullied" and "targeted") and worried about the boys finding him at Batt. I assure him the school was very safe (fence, locks, cameras...), and we were all there to keep him safe and protected.
Jason is extremely intelligent with a expansive vocabulary, and demonstrates knowledge above a kindergarten level.
Story comprehension and craft, fine motor skills, graphig
Lesson Outline
Richard enjoyed listening to 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs'. Print and plot elements were identified and discussed. He was excited to make a mobile by choosing, coloring and cutting out food items from the story and then attaching the items to a cloud with string. Richard was pleased with the final product. Richard surveyed people in school asking which color was their favorite. He charted the data on both a bar graph and with tally marks. Richard did well interpreting the data.

reading comprehension and fluency, phonics, compare/contrast, number recognition, addition
Lesson Outline
Richard read 'A Pet Mule' which focused on the long u sound. He was encouraged to sound out the words, rather than guess based on the pictures. Given a picture and three words, Richard was tasked with determining which word named given pictures. Again, focus was on spelling patterns for the long u sound. Richard did very well comparing and contrasting given pictures. He also did well reading numbers 0-100 and locating numbers on the 100 chart. Richard enjoyed a game of Connect 4 addition.
